OnStar includes a hands-free phone. The

voice-activated dialing works well, but the

subscription fees are pricey ($40 for 100

minutes), and it is more frugal to outfit a

cell phone for hands-free use. Yet another

cost-effective option—only available to

Verizon cell-phone customers—is to share

your allotted minutes with OnStar’s phone

for a $10 premium per month.

On paper, the Terraza is overpriced in

comparison with competitors that offer

higher power, greater sophistication, and

more flexible interior configurations. But

in the real world, the Terraza will likely

sell at a substantial discount—one large

enough to deliver decent value to some

buyers. Even so, we wouldn’t expect this

machine to reverse GM’s longstanding

also-ran status in the minivan segment. ■
